Alliance of 50 organisations launches Charitable programme to end loneliness

Despite significant efforts by both the voluntary and statutory sectors to address key challenges within our communities, many areas continue to face increasing economic, social, demographic and environmental pressures. These growing challenges highlight the need for a new approach.

Meaningful and lasting change requires organisations and communities to have greater influence over the solutions that affect them. Creating opportunities for people to shape interventions, set priorities and develop effective, measurable responses is essential.

However, tackling complex social issues cannot be achieved by any single organisation or funder alone.

Across the UK, there is a growing movement of forward-thinking organisations choosing to work collaboratively rather than in isolation, recognising that collective action is needed to address deep-rooted and systemic challenges.

By embracing this approach, we aim to create the conditions for stronger, more resilient communities and improved outcomes for older people.

Throughout 2024, we invited a diverse range of organisations and individuals to a series of think tank sessions to explore new ways of working. The response was overwhelmingly positive. There was a clear appetite for greater collaboration, long-term thinking and more focused investment, with a shared ambition to help organisations become more sustainable while delivering meaningful change for the communities they serve.

From the outset, there was strong consensus and a collective commitment to working differently.

As the conversations evolved, the Impact Alliance – West of England emerged, united by a shared determination to drive positive change through collaboration and innovation.
