We Care Home Improvements
In just six months, the We Care Home Improvements Independence and Security at Home Fund has made a significant impact, supporting 11 clients to stay safe, secure, and independent in their own homes. This fund has bridged gaps where no other support was available, resulting in safe and prompt discharge from hospital and completion of essential repairs. We are thrilled to announce continuation funding for this project.
Case study:
A 79-year-old gentleman was unable to be discharged from hospital until his stairlift was repaired. With no means to pay for or arrange the repair himself, the fund stepped in with just under £200. This covered an initial contractor visit, allowing for a temporary fix and enabling his safe discharge.
The stairlift, initially installed for him, has now become essential for his wife as well, especially in caring for him post-hospitalisation. The contractor identified additional work needed, which could be completed once he was home. This allowed time to secure the further £600 required for the complete repair.
The support from St Monica Trust was invaluable, ensuring the gentleman could return home quickly and safely. This case highlights the profound impact of the fund, not just on individuals but on their families and caregivers as well.
