Continuation funding: One year on

Impact of continuation funding

Talk Club

Talk Club

Talk Club supported 454 men aged 55+ through 37 groups across Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. By combining conversation, exercise, hobbies and shared interests, the project has helped reduce loneliness, improve mental well-being and strengthen social connections. Participants reported improved mental health, with many highlighting the value of having a safe, judgement-free space to talk and build friendships. While Talk Club operates nationally, St Monica Trust's funding has specifically supported the development and growth of groups serving older men across the West of England.

ReMind UK: Building connection and confidence for people affected by dementia

ReMind UK's Chat, Make and Move programme

ReMind UK's Chat, Make and Move programme engaged 89 people aged 55+ affected by dementia, including carers. Through structured social, creative and physical activities, the programme helped participants build confidence, form new friendships and access practical support. Feedback showed the sessions reduced isolation and provided a vital source of connection and encouragement following a dementia diagnosis.

Alive Activities' Share and Repair Café

Alive Activities' Share and Repair Café engaged 61 older people through 15 funded events and helping establish several self-sustaining community groups. By encouraging participants to share skills and learn from one another, the project increased confidence, fostered new relationships and created lasting community connections, with a further 45 independently run events taking place during the year.

Together, these projects demonstrate the lasting value of investing in community-based activities that reduce loneliness, improve well-being and help older people stay connected, active and supported.
