ReMind UK was initially funded through St Monica Trust's Improving Connections Fund and later received continuation funding to extend delivery of its Chat, Make and Move wellbeing programme. This support enabled more people affected by dementia, along with their carers, to access ongoing social connection, practical guidance and confidence-building activities.
ReMind UK delivers Chat, Make and Move wellbeing programmes for people living with dementia, providing engaging group sessions alongside advice, support and signposting to other services. The programme creates structured opportunities for individuals and their carers to connect with peers, build confidence, and take part in stimulating social, creative and physical activities.
Mike and Jenny's story
Mike and Jenny attended the Keynsham wellbeing course in spring 2026, following Jenny's Alzheimer's diagnosis in November 2025.
Reflecting on the diagnosis, Mike said:
-
I actually felt relieved when Jenny got the diagnosis because I finally knew what it was. I am still a little bit in denial about Alzheimer’s. When Jenny was working at the hospital over 10 years ago, she started getting nervous about whether she had forgotten something or missed something at work. I noticed she would forget things. Jenny was always the reliable one, so when she started forgetting things it was noticeable. Eventually, she gave up her job and went to work in care instead. “ ”
The programme became an important source of support, routine and social connection for both Mike and Jenny.
Mike explained:
-
It’s a shame the wellbeing programme stopped because we really enjoyed going every week. You saw the same people every Wednesday. I found it very good for both of us. It was especially good for Jenny because she would not get out unless I encouraged her to. I spend a lot of time away from home, so I am often out, but what really helped me was that the ReMind UK team really know what they are talking about. You can talk to people, get help and support, and it has been useful for finding out what is available. The calendar is great as well. “ ”
For Mike and Jenny, the programme provided more than activities and information. It also offered a sense of belonging and understanding among people facing similar challenges.
