Funding Alliance supports transformation of services for older people

The Bristol Older People’s Funding Alliance is releasing £150,000 to help organisations improve their services for older people in Bristol.

For 2019, the Funding Alliance has increased the available funds and aims to help organisations become sustainable, improve existing services or develop innovations that will have a positive effect on the quality of life for older people.

Transforming services for older people

The Funding Alliance is chaired by the Very Reverend, Dr Hoyle and is made up of the The Anchor Society, Bristol Ageing Better, The Dolphin Society, The Grateful Society, John James Bristol Foundation, Quartet Community Foundation, The Society of Merchant Venturers and the St Monica Trust.

Chair of the Funding Alliance and Dean of Bristol, Dr David Hoyle said “Last years’ fund was a tremendous success and we were able to support eight organisations to transform their services and improve their support for older people.”

“With cuts to traditional sources of funding for organisations that support older people, organisations need to find new ways of providing services and new methods of income. The Bristol Older People’s Funding Alliance aims to help with these changes and to support the continuity of services in Bristol.”

Sharing expertise

Last year, the Transformation Fund gave over £80,000 to support services in Bristol, most projects funded by more than one Funding Alliance member with all members keen to proactively support the organisations.

Richard Pendlebury, CEO of Anchor Society said “There is a huge amount of expertise across the trusts, both in terms of running successful ventures and providing services for older people, that we can share.”
