Tai Chi Memory Walk raises funds for Alzheimers

More than 80 elderly Bristol residents stepped out in a sponsored walk with a difference to support the Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest annual fundraising initiative for people living with dementia.

Residents with Bristol-based charity the St Monica Trust, some using wheelchairs, embarked on an action-packed ‘Memory Walk’ organised by the Trust. This year’s event included opportunities for Tai Chi, activities to challenge physical co-ordination and a test of participants’ cricketing knowledge - all while competing a circuit of the cricket pitch, the venue for the walk, at the heart of the St Monica Trust’s Westbury Fields retirement village. A celebration picnic was organised for all who took part.

The event is one of many organised across the country during September raising money to enhance care, research and campaigning for people living with dementia.

Memory Walk is the leading fundraiser for people with dementia and their carers. Thousands of people are expected to join in Memory Walk events across the country throughout September.
