Working for St. Monica Trust

The St. Monica Trust strives for excellence as it works to overcome personal disadvantage, inspire optimism, create opportunity and ensure dignity for older people and those with a disability or need for support. The people who work for the Charity make this happen.

Recruiting, developing and keeping the right people are a crucial part of how we maintain our high standards. We regularly review our remuneration of staff and aim to keep our salary scales competitive in the social care market-place. We are also committed to recruiting the person who best meets the specification for each vacant post and to carrying out recruitment using fair selection methods, in accordance with our Equal Opportunities Policy.

As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome applications form all parts of the community. The Trust is also committed to being positive about disabled people. Our application form asks whether people are disabled. We do this so that when we shortlist, any disabled applicant meeting the essential criteria detailed in the person specification is guaranteed an interview.

We encourage our people to reach the highest standards, and we support them in a variety of ways:

  • All new workers will receive an appropriate programme of induction into the organisation, their workplace and their job role.

  • Everyone working at the St. Monica Trust receives regular supervision, support and an annual review.

  • The Trust offers an excellent contributory pension scheme to which it pays 6% of the employee's earnings.

  • All employees are made aware of the training, learning and staff development opportunities open to them and are encouraged to identify and meet their job-related training and development needs. We have a comprehensive training programme, which includes our own NVQ Assessment Centre.

  • Members of staff are encouraged to participate in the organisation’s decision-making and communication processes through the Staff Consultation Group and the staff newsletter.
St. Monica Trust recognises that its people have rights and responsibilities, which are detailed in our staff charter. The organisation is committed to improvement through promoting, research, innovation, learning and celebration of staff achievement.
